What Is Root Resorption?

Root resorption is normal when a baby tooth is about to be replaced by its adult counterpart. However, if the root of an adult tooth begins to break down—either from the inside or the outside—it poses a serious risk to the tooth and requires the expertise of an endodontist.

Treating Internal And External Root Resorption In Colorado Springs, Colorado

Root resorption often doesn’t cause symptoms in the early stages and may be discovered through routine X-rays. The condition appears as abnormal changes in the pulp chamber (internal resorption) or lesions on the tooth’s outer surface (external resorption). Depending on the severity of the resorption, root canal therapy may be necessary to save the tooth.
