Dr. Kersten is a Board Certified Endodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He served nearly 6 years as a Director of the Endodontic Program at Ft. Bragg, NC where he was responsible for program accreditation and training over 25 endodontists. Additionally, he has helped train more than 30 general dentists in the Army’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry programs.
Dr. Kersten graduated with honors in 1999 from St. John’s University (Collegeville, MN). In 2003, he received his DDS degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where his classmates continually elected him as Class President and leader of the Student Government. He graduated near the top of his class with several patient care awards. After receiving his DDS degree, he entered Active Duty and in 2004 graduated from the US Army’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program. In 2008, he completed his Endodontic Residency at Fort Bragg. He is an Associate Professor at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and an accomplished researcher by authoring or co-authoring over 20 publications in the Journal of Endodontics. In 2018, his efforts of inspiring other dentists to pursue excellence was honored with the US Army’s Dental Educator of the Year award which is limited to one recipient a year among the one thousand Army Dentists. He served as the US Army Consultant in Endodontics to The Surgeon General and received the prestigious “A”-Designator which is limited to the top 10% of clinicians.
Dr. Kersten is married his college sweetheart Gna and is the proud father of Axel, Caroline and Ella. He enjoys skiing, camping, gardening and spending time with his family.
